Our web site is created and published in-house at our office which is situated in the old historic mining village of Newtongrange, Midlothian. We have full editorial control: we can add to it, update it and republish it whenever we choose. We have had many great pages on our web site over the years. Many of our pages have set the pace that several of our competitors have struggled to keep up with! Many of our ideas have been copied. Despite copyright notices on our site many photos (all of which are ours - every single photo on our site was taken by our own cameras.) have been stolen by other disco companies. They have copied, cropped and even reversed them, then featured them on their own sites! Is it a compliment or downright cheating? Over the years of having our site, we just kept adding to it! History (long version)
I guess the best person to write this page is me. If you are new to Atomik Disco then I would like to introduce myself to you! My name is Chris Doherty and it’s all my fault! That emotive name of the 70’s is still here. Surviving through the nuclear arms race of the super powers in the 1970’s & early 80’s and the UK’s very own Greenham Common. I can tell you I took some stick back in those days over the name Atomik. Can you imagine having to defend your company’s name before anybody had seen or heard your discos? But now it’s different, it’s cool to be called Atomik – just look at the Internet, with all sorts of variations on how to spell it! To a lot of people over the years we have always been known as Atomik Disco, so for us it was the logical choice to register the name atomikdisco.com. I hope you feel as comfortable with the name as we do.
In 1977 when Atomik was established proper by ME - it’s new owner - it was a 1 mobile disco company. My popularity and professionalism was so (it’s true) that very quickly it grew to 2 then so on. I had expanded to 10 mobile discos by the late 80’s. By 1998 Atomik had grown to 18 mobile discos and 2 karaokes. Ever aware of over expansion I am presently very happy to keep the level at 18 mobiles and 4 karaokes. In tandem I have always supplied a DJ only service to pubs, clubs and hotels. Although initially, Atomik was purely a mobile discotheque company, it wasn’t too long before we diversified. As the disco business grew and evolved we grew and evolved too, into sales, service, installation and manufacture. But never forgetting our beginnings. However after 27 years in the business (a long time after our coming of age) the mobile disco side of our business still remains the steadfast core of our business today. It has remained as popular as ever and increased beyond comparison. As we now look to an even more colourful and sound future you too can become part of that with us by choosing Atomik for your entertainment and join our long list of satisfied customers.
